The Beginning - 1979
Prof. Dr. Cemşid Demiroğlu, alongside a vision-driven team of physicians, founded the Haseki Cardiology Institute at Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty. This landmark effort fundamentally advanced cardiology in Türkiye and laid the groundwork for the group’s future.
Establishment of Florence Nightingale Hospital - 1989
Florence Nightingale Hospital opened as a 50-bed facility capable of performing 250 open-heart surgeries annually. Driven by clinical success and patient trust, it evolved into a 302-bed institution performing over 2,000 cardiac surgeries a year, while expanding services across pediatrics, gynecology, ophthalmology, and broad medical specialties.
Gayrettepe & Comprehensive Cancer Care - 1997
Gayrettepe Florence Nightingale Hospital opened its doors, featuring a Comprehensive Cancer Center established through U.S. partnerships. The facility pioneered early telemedicine capabilities, connecting local doctors with global peers for multidisciplinary case reviews and international collaboration.
Academic Integration - 1998-2006
Capitalizing on decades of clinical experience, the group established a university in 1998, officially becoming İstanbul Bilim University in 2006 (now Demiroğlu Bilim University). As Türkiye’s first specialized health sciences university, it bridges clinical research, medical education, and patient care.
