How to Take Care of Yourself After Cosmetic Surgery in Turkey
Updated: Sep 17, 2019
Partnering with a medical tourism group to receive cosmetic surgery in Turkey could be one of the best decisions you ever make. Turkey has medical facilities and specialists every bit as good as those in northern Europe, but at significantly lower costs. You can have a vacation and a face-lift and still end up paying far less than you would at a UK or EU clinic.
Group Florence works with you to arrange the trip, the doctor, translators, and everything else you'll need to have a safe and comfortable experience.
We'll also keep in touch with you afterward and act as go-betweens for you and your surgeon during recovery. That said, there are also things you can do to help ensure your recovery is as smooth as possible!
How to Ensure Great Outcomes After Cosmetic Surgery in Turkey
1 - Be sure to follow all specific after-care directions
Sad to say, but if something goes wrong during post-care for a facelift, it's usually because the patient didn't follow all the instructions they were given. For example, you'll probably get a prescription for antibiotics. It's important to take these, even if you feel fine, because they're intended to prevent any infection from happening.
Follow your post-care instructions and you should be in good shape.
2 - Keep yourself as comfortable as possible.
Remember: cosmetic surgery is still surgery. It's stressful on the body! The calmer and more comfortable you can be during recovery, the easier it will be for your body to heal after you go home. So, spend plenty of time lying down, such as in a reclining chair.
3 - Limit head movement for the first couple weeks
Depending on the type of facelift you receive, there's a good chance that moving your head too much could re-open your incisions. Try to avoid tilting your head down as much as possible, and if you need to turn your neck, do so slowly. If it hurts your face, stop moving!
You may even want a neck brace, to help prevent accidental head movement.
4 - Start with a mostly liquid diet
Your first few days after the surgery will see you eating a lot of soups, and similar liquid meals. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, liquid foods are easier for your body to digest - that means more energy for healing up. Also, chewing could potentially re-open your incisions as well, so that should be limited.
5 - Be wary of sunlight
You'll be photosensitive for a couple of months after your facelift. So, try to avoid direct sunlight. If you can't avoid it, use strong sunscreen to protect your face while it heals!
